A return to the HOP

Book Blogger HopAfter a long break (thanks linky tools, ugh) I'm back to the HOP!

So this weeks question is "What Books would you like to see made into a movie".  This is a tough one, I'm not a fan of what most directors do to books.  Rarely are they handled with the right tone and atmosphere.  Movies like Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter were notable exceptions and I still get annoyed by some of the cuts and changes.

Ultimately I love books because they're however I picture them.  For that reason I also don't dig covers that try to depict characters, the whole point to reading (for me anyhow) is that between me and the author there develops this whole other world.  It's just plain magic.

Of course, that being said, under the right direction and budget, I think the Forest of Hands and Teeth would be pretty freakin' amazing.  I'm just saying.

While you're here make sure to check out my Delirium contest and my Once Every Never contest.  I'm giving away several copies of both and they're both sure to impress (I just finished Delirium and I'm in love).  I'm guessing at least a few people on the hop are going to want to see Delirium made into a movie so make sure you enter so you can see what all the fuss is about!

  1. I've never heard of the books you mentioned (Forest of Hands and Teeth) so I guess I'll just trust your judgement :)

I do agree that most times, movies don't live up to the books. But when they do, the result is magical.

Here's my Book Blogger Hop post!

  2. Hopping through - I'm a new follower!

I completely agree with you - I don't usually like the movie versions of books I liked. I've heard so many great things about Delirium, I really need to read that soon!

  3. I'm not usually a fan of movies made from books either so this week's question was a little tough for me. If only Hollywood would stay true to what makes the books so good...

  4. I agree with you on that point! I'm actually going to be doing a post about cover models, good vs. bad kind of thing just because I've been thinking about that same point myself. I feel a little skeptical when people make books into movies, and I think that's one of the reasons why I never read the book form of its movie remake. So that I'm not angered with the changes.

Thanks for stopping by the blog, by the way!

  5. I think the reason Lord of the Rings was so good is that they couldn't really cut much out from the books, and is probably why there's like 9 nine hours of film!

  6. hmmm, interesting opinion. I can see what you mean. I've never seen a movie and thought it was better than the book version.

    Thx for hopping by!

  7. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm your newest follower :)

I agree with you about Harry Potter - I'm such a book fanatic when it comes to that series that I often get annoyed with certain parts they've left out or just skimmed over. I absolutely LOVED Delirium!! So glad you did too. I'd only love a movie if they were able to successfully show the emotions... because it's a book all about emotions, love.

I haven't read Forest of Hand and Teeth yet, but I really need to. My school library has it and I've been meaning to stop by there, like all year. xD

  13. Thanks for dropping by my blog (and nice to meet a fellow Tamora Pierce fan!) I think I might read that new book of short stories this year as well - normally I'm not too big a fan of short stories, but since it's Tamora Pierce and it's Tortall... :D
