Sunday Link Salad- and Banned Books Week Winner!

I hope you've limbered up those fingers and gotten comfortable because I'm about to send you on linking marathon of news!

-November 1st is the release of Ally Condie's sequel to Matched, Crossed, but you can preview the first two chapters on EW.  If you'll remember I reviewed Crossed back in July and was a bit disappointed by it, so I'm dying to hear what you think.

-Speaking of disappointed, with the forth coming part three (Silence) of Becca Fitzpatricks Hush Hush series coming out this week the Patch die hards are going wild.  I was of that small number of folks who were equally horrified/mystified by Hush Hush, and thought I might give her a second chance with Crescendo but just couldn't bring myself to spend any more money on the story.

Anywho, according to Indigo greenroom they're working on an announcement for Becca Fitzpatrick signings, USA Today's Book Buzz has an excerpt of Silence for you, and Simon and Schuster are also taking the chance to let you know there's going to be a book 4.  That's right, more Patch and Nora for 2012, I think I might have thrown up in my mouth a little, but open minds all around, maybe it has gotten better, right?

-Speaking of hot new releases, Clive Barkers latest Abarat is on shelves at very long last, or at least it is in theory as I've been to three book stores already and have yet to find it.  Barker stops by Inkpop to talk about the inspiration for his world.

-CBC is shinning the light on Canadian True Stories with a cool array of publishers, writers and bloggers listing their fav pics.  My good friend Amy, of Amy Reads is one of the bloggers they talked to! Make sure to stop by, check out all the great recommendations and vote for you favs.

-Cassandra Clare has announced her finalized tour dates for her Clockwork Prince tour.  She won't be anywhere near me but hopefully you can go get her John Hancock on a book or two.

-Speaking of signings, Books of Wonder is having a Fantastic Fiction afternoon on October 22nd, six great authors including Scott Westerfeld will be there!

-If you're like me and you can't make it to Books of Wonder, or any of Scotts other upcoming signings, head on over to Changing Hands website, right now if you buy any of his books through their site they'll send it to you signed and personalized by him! They'll ship USA and most international. Christmas anyone?

-And if you love Scott Westerfelds Leviathan series, check out the Huxley at one of his recent signings.

-Christopher Paolini is finally wrapping up his Inheritance cycle books, and going on a pretty significant tour.  It looks like he's taking the time to hit up a lot of the places not usually on tour lists, so if you're somewhere authors never go then make sure to check to see if he's coming to you.

-Also touring right away is Lauren Oliver for Lisel and Po.  Her tour is all US right now.

-Harlequin Teen has posted the trailer for Iron Prince, all you have to do is "like" their facebook page to get an eyeful.  It's maybe one of the better trailers out there, and it makes me want to read this series already (I have Iron Queen on my shelf but none of the others yet).

-The biggest surprise of the week has to be from Stephen King.  While accepting a prize at George Mason University, last weekend, he read a sneak peek from the forthcoming sequel to the Shinning!
It's a good ten minutes long, so it's likely a complete chapter, though he's a wordy fellow so maybe it's just the first paragraph.

-The winner for the Banned Books Week Giveaway is.... Tamara Narayan, who notably commented on the contest:
I've got to get this book one way or another. I was a penguin keeper at a zoo for a couple of years and there was a male/male "couple", but hold your hats--they were father and son! A population held under twenty does make for strange bedfellows.
Congratulations Tamara!
- Finally, it's not book related, but totally Giving me the Creeps related, check out these awesome Lego Haunted Houses!

mmm, still with me? I told you it was a big one!  Happy Sunday Linking!
