Saturday Link Salad

Which is very late today because I cannot seem to tear myself away from the Iron Fey books long enough to function, unless, that is, I'm going out to buy MORE books, which also happened today.  What can I say?? Sales are evil temptress's and Chapters is having a buy 3 get 1 free sale.  The hubby and I have bought 9 books for 3 free ones so far.  I will have to start reading in my sleep to get through them all.
So without further ado, I give you this weeks news!

-The NYC Teen Author Festival has announced their line up! As per usual I'm shedding tears for not being able to go, but if you live a commutable distance you should definitely consider taking some of it in.  The list of talks and authors is decidedly impressive. Kody Keplinger, Barry Lyga, Ellen Hopkins, Melissa De La Cruz, Gayle Forman and SO many more.  Follow them on facebook for all the details.

-Speaking of to-die-for NYC book festivals, the BEA has announced more authors and moderators, most notably Chris Colfer of Glee fame, who will be moderating the Children's Author Breakfast.

-This week has also brought a bevy of cover reveals and title announcements.  Lesley Livingston has revealed the blurb, cover and title of her highly anticipated follow up to the Wondrous Strange series.  It's called Starling and follows....Fennrys!  The cover to James Dashners prequel to the Maze Runner series has been revealed as well- The Kill Order is it's name.  And finally Ally Condie's final book in the Matched series has been revealed, along with a small interview.  The biggest news from this reveal? That Xander will finally have a view point!

-School Library Journal's Battle of the Kids' Books has officially begun, with a great post by author Kate Combs on why she loves following it every year.

-The latest Random Reader Challenge is up, and it's one you folks are really going to want to sink your teeth into! Yes, that's right, it's YA this time around.  Head on over to the introductory post to see the rules and regulations and to get on board!

- For all of the writers out there, Maggie Steifvater is throwing you a crit partner bone.  Head on over to her blog for some Critique Partner Love Connection.

-Are you a fan of Mark Zusak's The Book Thief and Downton Abbey like me?  Then boy do I have good news for you!  20th Century Fox has hired Downton Abbey's Brian Percival to direct The Book Thief film!  That is one combination I can't wait to see in action.

-Speaking of movies, two great Harry Potter announcements this week!  First up is the Warner Brothers Studio tour opening this summer, they've announced they'll have the Hogwarts scale model on display!  The 1:24 scale model, that took 86 people to sculpt will be the grand finale of the tour.  And finally, the most comprehensive, and fancy, ultimate Harry Potter film box set has been announced.  Coming in at a smooth 499.99$ this is something to have every die-hard fan drooling all over their keyboards for.

And that's it!  Happy Saturday to you all.
