World Book Night!

It's here!  World Book Night is today, and if you live in the UK or USA then make sure you're out and about looking for books.  Sadly Canada doesn't participate yet, however I thought I'd get in the spirit, clean out some of my shelves and head out to the streets of Toronto and give out some books!

I've picked 17 assorted YA and MG books, packed them up (it's raining here, hence the ziplock bags), and am about to jump in the car and troll west end Toronto for drop offs.

I've attached notes for the confused, "And Yes, it's free!"

In a couple of hours I'll be back posting photos of the locations for those of you up for the hunt!
Happy World Book Night!

****5pm Update****

17 books have gone out into the wild. Can you find them?
hint, these guys were watching me drop it off.

So in case you're wondering, that's three coffee shops (two chains, one indie), a video store, two parks, a zoo, two different free newspaper boxes, a book store, a grocery store, a dentists office, a streetcar shelter, two in a mall, a library, and a farmers market.

Can't wait to hear from you new book owners!

  1. That is so cool of you to do that, hope it went well. I was an official giver and my books were gone in minutes, great experience though. :D

  2. I love that you are taking matters into your own hands and creating your own distribution for WBN. I love the note, "Yes, it's free." We had quite a few people who asked us if there was a catch. :)

    1. Well you know, my local library branch won't take donations and I can be hard pressed to clear my shelves a bit once in awhile, so this has some benefits for me too! hahahahha
I should turn it into a monthly thing.

  6. OMG I love your idea! I just finished posting What I learned from my experience today with World Book Night and believe it or not, No.1 is that I need to be gifting more books from my personal shelves! Can I borrow your idea with the newspaper boxes?!? that one is priceless - especially saying FREE!
