-The biggest news of the week, and the one stirring things up internet wide was the New York Times article announcing that Random house and Penguin are negotiating a merger. In a world where several publishers have announced bankruptcy or other serious financial issues in the past year alone, it's not the worst case scenario. Alas it is still not a great one either.
-For those of you starting NaNoWriMo this coming week, Maggie Stefvater points you towards her Dear John letter to NaNoWriMo. I especially liked this because as a first timer it's nice to go into November knowing that if it turns out it doesn't really work for me, I'm in good company and not just a lazy so-and-so.
-Speaking of NaNoWriMo, Random House is having an awesome promo for it. There's a weekly contest Canada wide, and a elite contest for those in Toronto, or who will find their own way here for November 18th! All I'm going to say is, wow, I want that one.
-Finally! The kitten of nameless wonder has a name! Opal, as in Opal Koboi, the technological genius, evil elf of Artemis Fowl fame. As you might suspect, Opal is a bit of a guru with our computers already. She's figured out how the touch pad on my laptop works and spends a lot of time trying to turn the computer on so she can chase the cursor. I smell trouble, or, possibly, her own blog. We'll see.
Cheddar is officially in love, Thurman is not entirely sure she's not some weird alien creature, but he thinks he might like her, and Dilly is ambivalent in the way that all Princesses are to lowly commoners.
In other words, it's been a pretty awesome week.
And did I mention I'm reading The Evolution of Mara Dyer now?
